Ioline rolls out
new SmarTrac Contour sign cutters

WOODINVILLE, Wash.—Ioline Corp. today announced the introduction of a premium line of high-performance sign cutters. The multi-purpose Smartrac Contour offers sign makers many new features including: automatic contour-cut alignment, tangential blade control technology for cutting heavier materials, 500 grams of downforce and USB support. Ioline also announced upgrades to its existing SmarTrac I/S line.

Sign makers looking to contour-cut wide-format graphics now have an affordable option. In an enhancement to Ioline’s well-known sign cutter, the new wide-format Smartrac Contour features an optical registration system that enables sign makers to cut digitally printed graphics. Working in conjunction with popular sign packages, the cutter’s electronic sensor locates registration marks printed on the graphic to automatically adjust for changes in plot orientation, position and scale, providing a precision cut around a design’s defined outline. In so doing, shop owners benefit by maximizing use of their color inkjet printers, improving their workflow.

The Smartrac Contour also features 500g of downforce and drag knife or tangential control. In tangential mode, the system lifts and repositions the blade for changes in the cutting angle to achieve sharper corners on thicker and more challenging materials, including reflective vinyls, stencil board and tag board.

Available in three models, the Smartrac Contour can cut media up to 40-in, 48-in or 72-in wide. This Ioline sign cutter relies on the same proven SmarTrac technology used in the company’s current sign cutter line. Ioline sign cutters are precision-engineered to exacting standards, with revolutionary friction-free heads and durable metal parts that resist wear and assure accurate tracking year after year.

“The new Smartrac Contour offers a powerful feature set that enables busy sign makers to handle more types of sign work quickly and profitably,” said Frank Schmicci, Ioline president and CEO. “Ioline is unique in that we’re the only company that designs and manufactures sign cutters in the U.S.A. Our products are all about value and productivity. Ioline SmarTrac I/S and SmarTrac Contour cutters are rugged, workhorse machines that require little to no maintenance and offer unparalleled dependability under heavy use.”

While Ioline will continue to offer the tabletop SmarTrac IS-60 and floor-standing IS-85, the SmarTrac IS-85 model will now feature tangential control and 500g of programmable maximum cutting force—an increase of 100g. It’s also offered with an optional contour cutting upgrade. Both SmarTrac sign cutter lines offer expanded communications options that include USB and serial ports.

The enhanced Ioline SmarTrac and new SmarTrac Contour 40 and 48 models will be available February 1, 2005 through all Authorized Ioline sign equipment distributors. The SmarTrac Contour 72 will be available in March of this year.
